19 – Forrest Gump (1994)

Forrest sees his first tit.Blows the load into Jennys room-mates towel.The room-mate is awake and listening.

Haley Joel Fucking Osment,what a little shit.There’s something about his face that makes me want to punch it.The little shit can’t act.Every time i see him i’m reminded that i’m watching a film and it spoils the whole effect.Lets set that aside.Apart from that this film is excellent.The first 15 minutes i thought Hanks was over acting the retarded angle with Forrest but as the film went on i understood that he was doing something that is called ‘acting’,powerful stuff.Forset Gump is about a guy who’s waiting for a bus who starts to tell anyone who’s listening about his life story.Interesting stuff.For the first chapter he tells a black woman how he was named after a leader of the  KKK.Great conversation starter.The films got a cool story with Forest interacting with some major people and times in history.The CGI looks well for a film of its age,better than the last film on the list in my opinion but then again there’s no orcs and dragons flying about.Forests love interest is a bit of a douche.Ditching at every possible opportunity so she can fuck off and see the world.But once he’s a millionaire she lands back.The she’s off again.Then she catches a ‘virus’,it’s fucking AIDS innit, and needs Forest to watch the kid.Is it even his?The whole film has a great soundtrack,full of nostalgic hits from the different eras he’s knocking about in.

39 – Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Rubbish.A guy who’s storming Normandy is collecting soil from different parts of the world.No only that but he carries all his samples with him into a war zone.Why not leave it back at base?Idiot.

Saving Private Ryan is about one army sergeants battle with arthritis and how he tries to overcome his crippling affliction by searching for a guy called Ryan.Not really,but i could be.What with all the close-ups of Tom Hanks’ hands shaking uncontrollably. The gist of the film is an 8 man group is sent looking for the final remaining Ryan after his 3 brothers were killed in combat.It seems a bit stupid putting 8 lives at risk for 1 but hey it’s an American film.The film has an all-star cast,so many familiar faces it’s hard to find someone you don’t recognize. The action and battle scenes really make this film.The realism along with the gore factor really makes an impression on you.In the end Hanks finds the guy and with his last words tells Damon to “Earn it” and does he?I haven’t a clue.As i watched the film there was a few bits where i was shouting at the screen.For example when they’re looking through the bag of dog tags it looks like they’re going through a bag of mirrors,light reflecting all over their faces.As far as i know dog tags are matte/frosted for the for the simple reason that if you’re hiding you don’t want light reflecting from you because the enemy might see it.

54 – Toy Story 3 (2010)

Totoro has a cameo.

After watching Toy Story 1 quite a few films ago you really can see how the animation has come on in leaps and bounds.The textures on all the materials looks way better.For example little things like adding small amounts of rust to metals and scrapes and blemishes to other materials.Also the people don’t look like disgusting monsters now.Toy Story 3 wraps up the whole story of Andy.From child to youth to adolescent. In this final(?) chapter Andy is going off to college and is clearing up his room.He decides to not dump his toys but to store them in the attic instead.But some mix-up his mum puts the bag of toys out on the curb to be dumped.And now we have pretty much the same plot as the other two films;toys somehow get away from the house and try and make their way back.I liked Toy Story 3 because it had a small dark aspect with one toy turning bad and turning into some sort of tyrant.Overall a good film,not juts for the kids.The only pitfall is that annoying music that all the other films had.I hate it.

117 – Toy Story (1995)

The kids reminded of the baby in Trainspotting for some reason.

An early CGI film by Disney here and it really does show.Some 18 years old now and the animation,by todays standards,looks very simple.The texturing of certain objects looks a bit shit,like fabrics,living stuff like leaves ,bark and skin all look off.That’s not to say it’s a bad film.Running at under 77 minutes long it’s a short one,but i bet it took like 3 years to make.I noticed at the beginning credits too that Steve Jobs had a producer credit.I did  a google on it and see he was in charge of part of Lucas Arts that did animation that then went on to become Pixar or whoever did this film.The all Randy Newman soundtrack ruined the film for me.If the target audience is small kids then maybe have something they might like not this spanner.I’ll leave it at that.
