6 – 12 Angry Men (1957)

Break him in two? I bet you did.

12 Angry Men is about 12 jurors trying to reach a judgement on murder case. This is an old one and i remember seeing it a good few years ago and thinking it was great. There’e quite a bit of dialogue in this film, well i guess it’s all dialogue. It was nice to get a break form the 3 and 4 hour films that have peppered the top 245 of the list.12 Angry Men runs at 96 minutes but it just flies in because it’s pretty fast paced.Lee Cobb from The Waterfront is in this basically playing the same person again;aggressive, loud and obnoxious. So as the plot goes they have a 11-1 guilty verdict with Fonda being the one  saying not guilty.Using rational thought and producing a similar knife used in the murder, which as meant to be rare,he wins one over. Then another, then another. It’s intense at parts and tempers get flared. Also this is during the hottest day in the year and there’s no aircon and the fan broke. So everyone is a bit on edge anyway.A great film. Some really nice close up shots of the peoples faces when you can see them changing the vote in their head.
