54 – Toy Story 3 (2010)

Totoro has a cameo.

After watching Toy Story 1 quite a few films ago you really can see how the animation has come on in leaps and bounds. The textures on all the materials looks way better. For example little things like adding small amounts of rust to metals and scrapes and blemishes to other materials. Also the people don’t look like disgusting monsters now.Toy Story 3 wraps up the whole story of Andy. From child to youth to adolescent. In this final(?) chapter Andy is going off to college and is clearing up his room.He decides to not dump his toys but to store them in the attic instead. But some mix-up his mum puts the bag of toys out on the curb to be dumped. And now we have pretty much the same plot as the other two films;toys somehow get away from the house and try and make their way back.I liked Toy Story 3 because it had a small dark aspect with one toy turning bad and turning into some sort of tyrant.Overall a good film, not juts for the kids. The only pitfall is that annoying music that all the other films had.I hate it.

59 – WALL·E (2008)

I got pretty bored watching this that i forgot to take the screen shot until the last few seconds.

I got pretty bored watching this that i forgot to take the screen shot until the last few seconds.

I don’t like Wall-e and the main reason why is the rubbish 1950’s music peppered and repeated to death throughout it.Who’s the target audience here? Not me anyways by the sounds of it.Don’t get me wrong the animation is on par and the musical score is pretty good but the repetitive stock footage of the all singing and dancing musical numbers just didn’t agree with me.Also with the Disney films there’s always some religious connotation’s that i don’t agree with. Here we have a robot called Eve that lands in his garden or eden and steals a plant.fuck why don’t we just call Wall-e Adam(Automated Detritus Arranging Machine) and be done with it.It’s obvious enough as it is.The only other thing i have a little beef, and it’s minor, with is the real actors used in pieces in the beginning and in the pre-recorded messages for the pilot, yet when we make it to the space station every-ones turned into a comical fat assed CGI representations of humans. One thing i noticed that i thought was a plot hole but maybe isn’t is the whole idea behind Eve getting the plant.I thought they needed the plant to get the co ordinates to get home, but obviously not if eve just came back from there and was was going to blast wall-e back home in a pod.But on second thoughts i think that its that the ship needs the plant to be able to accept the route and fly back.

112 – Up (2009)

A serious scene here.

A serious scene here.

Up is a good kids movie. But it does have a serious element to it.Within the first 11 minutes you find out the wife of Mr Fredrickson is barren and unable to have kids and then she dies later on.What kind of kids movie does that? But as the film progresses you forget all about that sad shit and can have a laugh and not feel guilty about it.The story goes like this;these two kids fall in love, get married and get a house. They both like adventure and want to some day move and live beside a waterfall.A pipe dream that never seems to happen,as they save money for it things seem to pop up and they have to dip into their ‘adventure fund’.Then one of them dies.Mr. Fredrickson realises that he’s gotten old and says fuck it,i’m going to do it!He ties a load of balloons to the hearth of the house(which rips its off the ground but doesn’t rip the block he tied it too from the house?)and floats off.Not a bad yearn. There’s some good comedy along the way with Russell,a young kid who tags along for the ride. There’s a good bit of sentiment in the film and i see why it’s so high on the list.
