The Sting sees Newman and Redford back again as the two leads after 4 years since Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. The two really do have some great on screen chemistry and work well off each other. The Sting is set in 1936 and it seems that the national pastime is gambling. There’s two small time grifters who pull a scam on a runner for a syndicate and get found out for it.To get back at them the guy who was ripped off kills Redfords mate.Angered at this he wants to pull a big scam and hit the guy good. This is where Newman fits in.He’s a little older than Redford and has worked some big scams. They devise a plan where they make a fake bookies and Redford convinces the big boss, the same dude who caught the shark in Jaws, that he has an inside scoop and cant lose.Redford agrees with the guy going to do a massive bet and clean the bookies with money fronted by him and they’ll split it 60/40.I’ll leave it at that.

OVERALL – GOOD FILM FOR 1973.GOOD PACE AND SET UP.
Here’s the second film in a row that started out black and white and after ten minutes changed to colour.I was a bit worried that it would stay with that old style sepia-like look because it was a little hard to watch. But when if switched it made the film 5 times better. The casting of Paul Newman and Robert Redford as the two leads is perfect and Newmans one liners and comedic timing is spot on.BCATSK is about two bank robbers who are being tracked by an elite hit squad hired by a man who has lost loads of money to them via bank and train robberies. They chased throughout america and decide to flee to Bolivia. There they resume there bank robberies and are soon being chased by the Bolivian police. When they decide to go straight that’s when things go tits up and they’re forced to get back into robberies. It did have a few montages in it,some were too long.
