Jack Nickolson plays a private dective who’s hired a woman to investigate and see if her husband’s cheating. It all seems balck and white but as he investigates he stumbles onto a much bigger plot.Firstly the guy he was investigating gets killed. He was some sort of offical with the water department who was opposing a new dam which he thought would fail and cost hundreds of lives.Other officals want to push the dam through so they can make money by buying up farms that are going bust.During this whole thing there’s a massive drought in California. There’s so many story twists with all the lies that most of the characters tell that it can be hard to see what happens next.I wont give away the story but i will say this,Faye Dunaway is meant to be 15 years older than her daughter in this, but i’d say that number is probably closer to 30 also the reference to Chinatown. It’s like calling Batman ‘banana milkshake’ and have someone just ask bruce wayne if he’d like one and than later giving him one.Pointless.
