After Neo learns Jujitsu he learns some other needed fighting styles, drunken being one of them.

Here we have a pretty wicked Anime called Ghost in The Shell, wait i meant a live action film called The Matrix. The Matrix is a highly original film apart from all the bits they ripped off scene for scene from the Anime that they had to get legally cleared to use in the film.Besides that it’s okay.I for one am not a fan.It centrals around a guy called Neo who meets a black dude who’s some sort of drug dealer. Well at least it’s realistic. I’m not sure if this films stands the test of time. There were loads of bits that either seemed very camp or just didn’t feel right.I’ll try and not go into a rant here but, plot holes, the whole concept of machines growing humans to generate electricity is a pile of dung. For one surely it would take a shit load of electricity to keep this humans plugged into this big fake world and then there’s the actual fact that humans consume energy and not generate it.

21 – The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The Olympic Torch makes its way into isengard.

The Olympic Torch makes its way into isengard.

Lord of The Rings is about a wealthy English nobleman who has a penchant for collecting wedding rings. Not,everyone knows what LOTR is about.I was looking forward to this on the list but when the film starts it just jumps right in.The story begins right after the credits,no humming or ha-ing.It’s the second film so i guess there was reason to go back and retell or introduce anything. That’s why the first third of the film i wasn’t too bothered about the characters, then the second third i was just getting to know them again and there side stories and the last bit i was excited and now that it’s over i want to watch the next one.But i don’t think i’ll bother,i seen it some 10 years, yes it’s been 10 years, ago and it’s a long film too.I found a lot of the CGI didn’t hold the test of time.I guess when you’re making an epic film,or three, you have to skimp and cut corners somewhere and there was more scenes than i care to mention that the special effects just looked a bit on the shit side for me.Great story though and fair dues to Jackson for tackling and fighting to get the rights to make the film.Lets see, notable stuff:Aragon or the buck who plays him is a solid actor, merry and pippen come across as too camp in places,Sauromon must spend half his day combing his hair up in that castle like Rapunzele or something. Also the Orcs had a pretty good grasp of language, who taught them how to speak?I noticed 2 chatting to each other while guarding the black gate, what would they be talking about? “Going out for the weekend?” , “How’s the missus?”

22 – Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)

This guy is reminiscing about his deal old mother.

This guy is reminiscing about his deal old mother.

Another Leone western, the last one on the list as far as i can tell.No Clint Eastwood or any of the other regulars, the lead’s taken by Charles Bronson.I’m not sure if i’m 100% sold on him either. Here’s a run down of the plot:A good looking thing that could be a ringer for Rachel Welch is marrying into a big ginger family out west. But the day she lands in on the train the whole family is slaughtered. We find out why later,it’s something to do with putting train tracks through his property. The train line guy thought he could just wipe out the family and get the land at a public auction, but he didn’t know that the ginger married this woman in secret about a month earlier. Now she complicates the deal a bit as she has now acquired this bit of land.I’m not entirely sure how Bronson works into the whole picture or who he actually is but he gets involved and helps out the damsel and shoots a few baddies too and the while he squeezes out a few tunes on his old harmonica. The other supporting actor playing Cheyenne is a more likable character,he’s got good lines too.For example he talking to a sneaky guy who’s wearing a belt and suspenders and comes out with this one “You’re wearing a belt and suspenders. How am i meant to trust a man who can’t even trust his own trousers?“This film is pretty long and i’ll confess i was dozing off in parts but i do feel well rested for the next film on the list.

27 – Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

A little off the top buddy?

A little off the top buddy?

The Indiana Jones original trilogy are classics.I can’t comment on the Crystal Skull one because it was so unmemorable that i can’t remember it.I think it had aliens in it so that scrapped it for me.Harrison Ford is on form for Raiders of The Lost Ark,the looks and expressions, the one liners and all the other comedic bits are delivered with ease and excellent timing. But i guess that’s all down to the writing too. This is the first film in the set,i prefer the one with Sean Conner y as his dad,was that one the Last Crusade?Anyways this one’s about the Nazi, they all seem to be about Nazis, and their quest to get the Ark of The Covenant. This ark contains the ten commandments. The Nazis believe that it’s a phone that you can call up God and have the craic with him.Who knows maybe it is.Indy thinks differently,he saw a picture in a book that shows it as a big spooky ghost that kills people. When it does get opened it’s more like a direct line to Satan not the other guy.Watching the credits i noticed a Micheal Moore as a unit Director or something to that degree,no wait,a quick google reveals it’s not him.

30 – It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Breaking records

Breaking records

When i started watching this film i thought for the first 30 minutes or so it should have been called it’s a shit life, but as the film went on it picked up and had a few comical bits where i was LOL’ing.James Stewart plays a guy running a savings and loan in a small town. He’s on a bridge and just about to end it all but he says a little prayer to “God” and low and behold an angel comes down to help him see the light and all that rubbish. There’s a strange bit with the angels talking, where they’re represented by stars and galaxies. As i watched the film i started to think there wasn’t enough good bits for me to warrent it being on the list. There was some really bad camera stuff, jumping around and coming out of focus, the quality seemed to go from crystal clear in some shots to blurry as fuck in others.I’d say this is due to the exterior stuff and studio stuff.Either way these things got my goat up.This is a Christmas movie too and it’s regularly on t.v. around then, but i wouldn’t watch it.Depressing watching a guy waste his life and not follow his dream he had since he was young, then he try and kill himself. Eek

32 – The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

BACK BREAKING SHIT YO!

BACK BREAKING SHIT YO!

Another Nolan film here, this ones also got his brother Jonathan as a co-writer.Running at around 2 hours 40 it’s a long one and for me i definitely feel it.The first time i went to see it i was dozing off. When it was just out in the cinema one of the guys was going to see it for the 6th time in a week.I said i knew how he felt i couldn’t stay awake for all of it either. This seems like the last Batman film with everything tied up in a nice bow at the end.As far as i know Nolan is stepping back from the franchise but he’s buggered it up for the next guy;he’s used up the baddies already-Bane,the Joker, scarecrow and Two Face.In this film we’re introduced to Cat-woman aswell. When i heard Anne Hathaway was going to be in this i thought ‘shit’ but i was pleasantly surprised. She’s not bad,no Michelle Pfeffer but who is?Now let me get to Bane,Banes story isn’t long.He got his face messed up and a morphine addicted doctor screwed up his reconstruction surgery.I think. For some reason also he has the strangest accent that you wouldn’t associate with a villain living down a hole in the middle of nowhere. His voice reminds me of Patrick Stewarts.I’m just after going through the credits again to see if there was a voice actor for Bane and there isn’t.

36 – Apocalypse Now (1979)

:(

😦

Apocalypse Now is the sequel to Mel Gibsons smash hit Apocalyptico also about war and jungles.Not.No it’s about a colonel,Brando, who goes renegade during the Vietnam war and forms a killing squad of south Vietnamese who travel about the jungle massacring the enemy.Sheen is hired by the army to sneak into Cambodia and kill the insane Brando. As he gets closer and closer to the target the starts to relate with him and when it comes to the crunch he doesn’t know what to do.There’s a few famous faces in the cast here, with a very young Harrison Ford,an always old looking Duvall and a teenage Larry Fishbourne. Magnificently shot and with the odd bit of humor and surrealism.Like with the USO show in the middle of nowhere and the playboy bunnies what nearly get bum rushed by the randy soldiers.
